History of the Palette Club
The Palette Club was founded on October 7, 1943, by a group of twenty-one Ogden Artists. The first meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Mary Warnock. The artists selected Mrs. William Burford Cook As President, a prominent civil worker and club woman. Lee Parkinson, the director of Ogden Arsenal, was elected secretary-treasurer. The charter members named the organization "Palette Club." The members agreed that the purpose of the club is the advancement of community interest in art and the encouragement of artists. The club's first exhibit opened on November 7th at the Utah Power and Light Auditorium. The exhibit featured the work of Miss Florence Ware of Salt Lake City.
The Palette Club Now
To this day, the club still has this purpose: "For the advancement of community interest in art and the encouragement of local artists." Today, the club has approximately 100 members residing from Logan to Taylorsville.

Palette Club Exhibits
The Club has juried shows open to members of the club seasonally, usually 2 entries at $5 per entry, held at a different location each time. Eccles Community Art Center, Union Station, Ogden Arts, Artists & Heirlooms, and Ogden Blue have been kind enough to provide venue opportunities for the club recently.
Palette Club Events & Opportunities
We have a Workshops Committee Chair who finds out about local classes and workshops. We have an Exhibit Venues Committee Chair who finds out about Exhibiting opportunities and lets us know when and where we may exhibit our work. We also havc a Committee Chair who organizes Plein Air outings. We have an Artist's Rummage Sale every year in October to which members bring art supplies they do not require, and the club sells the items in order to increase club funds. We usually have a "holidays" event during our December meeting, to which we all bring food, and we enjoy socializing during the entire "meeting."
